I think it makes more sense now as I go to each Mindlab class the dots are connecting more. I find myself properly reflecting on my practice and really wanting to find ways in my pedagogy to improve. I have come to high school teaching with a cleaner slate than I thought. It’s the nature of the child that is different. No more ‘bluffing’ anything. They see straight through you! But it makes sense. If all primary teachers spent time teaching at ALL levels you would begin to see how the dots need to be joined. You would also see how the sectors need to talk. It needs to be more seamless. Jumping to high school is such an overwhelming environment for a lot of these new students. I want my goal to be part of that transition.
Faced with the new role as a high school teacher after 25 years in the primary and intermediate schools, I am on a journey of a whole new world.
